can using heating oil in modern diesel engines damage the engine.?

its basically the same , the main difference is in what additives are put in at the refinery , for an engine lubrication additives , and heating oil ones for storage stability . also home heating oil is dyed for identification purposes . So don’t get caught useing it or you will have to pay a fine for not paying the highway fuel tax . you may want to add an additive such as “Lucas fuel additive ” to it

for myself since I own my truck and knowing the cost of an engine overhaul , and injecters would only use a 50/50 mix and would add Lucas Fuel Additive to it , other thing to be cautious about is that depending on where your takeing the heating oil from that there is a greater chance of water in the fuel . and also sediment from bottom of tank , my truck is fueled several times a week where as my heating oil tanks at home are only filled ounce a year . would suggest if in doubt about the quality of the fuel to put fuel in clear container and let sit for a day so you can see whats in bottom seditment or water will settle to the bottom . and also be careful if you getting the oil from the bottom of the tank where the chance becomes greater of getting the sediment an water depending on how long fuel has sat in tank , it does break down with age . you may want to filter it before adding to your tank . and carry a spare filter with you so if vechicle stops running out on the highway you can change it your self rather then calling for road service and giveing away the f
just dont get caught , have heard that fines for fual tax evasion run $10 a gallon for a starting piont based on size of fuel tank . if you know that the fuel is on old side as in brought last fall you may only want to use it at a 25% ratio to start and see how your vechicle runs , other thing you can try doing is getting off road diesel which is the same as onroad but no fuel tax , just dont get caught , loose lips sink ship

1 gallon of Lucas will treat 400 gals of fuel . sold in truck stops , cost of approx $25 – $29 a gallon , Qts for $8- $10 . so suggest useing 2ozs per 10 gals of fuel . some of the better auto parts stores also sell it , and if niot just ask and they should be able to get it for you
